Hello everybody,
And yes, now is the time to end the Côte-Nord edition of the ride for multiple sclerosis.
This year again, she made me walk the long ribbons of bitumen that cover our roads, just like sections of pure gravel. It allowed me to contemplate sumptuous landscapes which I hope have enchanted you too. Like last year, I met captivating and endearing people there, some of whom shared with me, for a few moments, the mythical stretch of road between Natashquan and Kegaska. Some even joined me in a parking lot, while I was having a quick snack, to say hello and tell me that they were following my wanderings! I admit that I absolutely did not expect this!
As in any adventure, the vagaries of the weather changed my plans. So I didn't go to Fermont and Labrador City but, on the other hand, I discovered the superb Pointe au Outardes campsite. Moreover, if you pass by there, go put your tent there, you will be on the edge of the beach. There are so many beautiful places to pitch your tent on this route that increasing the number of days to complete the route could be done in the blink of an eye!
Of course, there are a few must-sees, such as the Manic 5, but also so many small places that offer breathtaking observation points. If you don't know where to go next year, take the time to drive this route, the 138, and you won't regret it.
Who says the closing of the event also says its balance sheet.
It is therefore about 3,500 km traveled, 7 nights of camping, 1 at the motel de l'énergie and one in a hotel in Montmagny in order to pass in front of the rain front which was fast approaching. It is also, and above all, $5,175 raised for research on Multiple Sclerosis with my partner Actiforme.
Tout comme l'année dernière, j'ai pu compter sur mes deux partenaires qui sont à la base de ma préparation:
This year, I also had the pleasure of having the support of Rev'It who graciously offered me my hydration kit (https://www.arreterlaspcaroule.com/post/un-peu-de-renouveau) as well as Motovan who gave me a very good price on my new Shoei helmet (https://www.arreterlaspcaroule.com/post/un-peu-de-renouveau-%C3%A9pisode-2). Quebecor and Vidéotron came to support my initiative by also donating to research.
But as I mentioned at the beginning of my event, La savonnerie des diligences collaborated by allowing me to draw a box of mini-soaps. What was done that day via a random number generator on the internet and an Excel file in which each donation had its own number. And the lucky winner is Pascal O. I'll go get him the bonbonniere myself on my motorbike!
Thank you all for following my adventures again this year. Now all I have to do is find the destination for next year and then start planning.
Looking forward to meeting you again!
